The Sanskrit word yoga has many meanings, the root yuj, meaning "to yoke" or "to unite". Yoga is an ancient philosophy and system of practices designed to unite the mind and body creating a sense of complete well-being.

In this beginners course, you will be introduced to some of the fundamental yoga poses (asanas) concentrating on healthy alignment and establishing a deeper awareness of your breath (pranayama). Instruction in relaxation techniques will also be given.

Some of the many benefits of yoga include: improvement in posture and breathing, increased tone, strength and flexibility, a greater ability to cope with stress and a feeling of calm.

The course is suitable for absolute beginners and for those who want to reconnect with the basics of their practice.

Sophie is an Anusuara InspiredTM Hatha yoga teacher and has trained for the past three years with John Friend, the Founder of Anusara Yoga & with Bridget Woods-Kramer (the only Anusara Certified Yoga teacher in the UK). She now assists Bridget on her 108 Hour Immersion Training. Sophie has a light hearted and creative approach to teaching.
