Yoga Teacher Training  · 2 year Diploma Course (10 weekends per year at the Light Centre Belgravia)

The Art of Contemporary Yoga teacher training course is one of the most ambitious and comprehensive yoga training courses in Europe. The course starts in April 2008 and lasts for two years incorporating 10 weekends per year.

The first year of this course will be spent working on yourself; studying several Yoga styles, Anatomy & Physiology, Ancient Psychology, Philosophy, Contemporary Meditation, Teaching & Touch Skills. The 2nd year adds Advanced Teaching Practice and Manual Adjustment to your extensive repertoire in the Art of Contemporary Yoga and the Science of Body Architecture.

  • Joanne Sarah Avison: E-RYT500. Joanne loves to teach and work in the field of Integrated Practice and is passionate about sharing the depth and range of Yoga with her colleagues.
  • Alexander Lorch: E-RYT500. Alex has been trained in many forms of Yoga, all over the world. His exceptional work is quiet and profound and encourages each person to find their own way.
  • Sally Brooks: E-RYT500. Sally is an exceptional exercise teacher who has become an Ashtanga Teacher with decades of experience running her own school.
  • Shane McDermott: E-RYT500. Shane is an expert in Spinal Pathology & Movement and Integrated Practice, as well as a devotee of Kriya Yoga.
  • Suzanne Scott: Suzanne is a Pilates Teacher with her own school and an examiner for the Pilates Foundation. Her teaching is integrated, exceptional and compassionate.
  • Rosamond Lomax: Rosamond is a Fine Art Teacher with outstanding talent in expressing movement from a creative point of view.

More About Your Course Co-Ordinator

Joanne Avison has been working in Human Resource training for over twenty-five years, moving into Yoga in the early ’90s, in the style of Vanda Scaravelli. Joanne was fascinated by the manual & movement applications of Structural Integration and became a Kinesis Myofascial Integration (KMI) practitioner and went on to become a Certified Teacher of Kinesis (CTK) and is a member of IASI and Yoga Teacher (E-RYT500). Jo’s extensive studies in the UK and US include practicing human dissection, CranioSacral Therapy and graduating from the Caroline Myss Education Institute (CMED), USA. Her passion is for integrating Anatomy in Practice, for ‘Anatomy Trains’ and ‘Anatomy of the Spirit’ and how the different ‘maps’ can facilitate and alchemise powerful change in people’s energy and sustained access to it. Jo teaches all over the world and is also an author and mother practicing in Brighton. She is co-founder of the Centre for Change Foundation with Alexander Lorch, which has its own Registered Yoga Teacher Training School. (In the Art of Contemporary Yoga & the Science of Body Architecture). The School is hosted By the Light Centre Belgravia www.lightcentrebelgravia.co.uk) in London where Joanne teaches regularly and shares their professional and integrated approach to many movement and manual therapies.
