Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a system of healing which has been practiced in China and other Eastern countries for over 2000 years.  The tradition is as much about the maintenance of health as the management of disease, and can be an important part of our daily well being.
Acupuncture works on our internal energy flow, also known as “Qi”, to re-establish a balance between our physical, mental and emotional being. Restoring this natural balance empowers our body to heal and protect itself against illness and disease.
The treatment accesses our Qi via channels in our body known as meridians; these run under the surface of the skin, and are accessed via acupuncture points.

What to Expect
The therapy involves a detailed consultation followed by treatment, where very fine needles are inserted into acupuncture points along the body.  The needles cannot be felt, only a deeply relaxing sensation is experienced.

Safety Issues
As a member of the British Acupuncture Council, strict Codes of Practice are followed to ensure safety at all times. All needles used are disposable, pre-packaged and steralised. Tui Na Massage
Tui na is an ancient Oriental Body work that has been used in China for over 4000 years. The name tui na comes from “tui” meaning to “push” and “na” meaning to “grasp”. Tui Na is based on the same Traditional Chinese Medical theory as acupuncture, and seeks to establish a more harmonious flow of Energy through the meridians and collaterals, allowing the body to naturally heal itself.
Instead of needles, tui na uses various hand techniques to massage the soft tissue of the body, working on realigning the muscle and bone relationship, ensuring they are in harmony together.
Tui na can be give on its own or to complement an acupuncture treatment. If you are not sure which treatment would best suit you, together we can devise an appropriate treatment plan to meet your specific requirements.

Other techniques that are used in Acupuncture and Tui Na treatments
Cupping
Cupping uses glass cups that are put on various areas of the body, mainly the back and shoulders.  The cups are used to increase circulation, clear toxins, activate acupuncture points, and help undo knots in tight and stressed shoulders.
Moxibustion
Moxibustion is a herb that is commonly used in acupuncture and tui na to heat specific areas of the body.  It can be used on its own or on acupuncture needles, and is an excellent way to warm us on cold winter days.
Ear Acupuncture
Either small needles or seeds can be used to stimulate acupuncture points on the ear.  It can be used on its own or to enhance a body treatment. Ear acupuncture has been used for thousands of years, and is based on the theory that the ear mirrors certain areas of our anatomy. It is used for many ailments, most commonly to treat pain, and to help over come addictions.
