FACIAL REVITALISATION FOR WOMEN AND MEN
“A viable alternative to cosmetic surgery and the effects can run much deeper than simply improving appearances” The Irish Times
A natural treatment to reduce the signature signs of ageing, making you feel and look younger. Use facial revitalisation for a fresher complexion and to improve facial radiance:
- Reduce bags/ dark circles under the eyes and lift droopy eyelids
- Diminish fine wrinkles and lines and reduce deeper wrinkles
- Smooth away puffiness
- Activate collagen production
- Reduce oversized pores
- Increase moisture and elasticity of the skin
- Improve muscle tone
- Tighten the skin and create general lifting of the face including around the chin
- Reduce greasiness of the skin
- Improve the appearance of scar tissue, age spots and damaged capillaries
- Improve hormonal balance
- Alleviate facial neuralgia, bell’s palsy, facial tics and facial paralysis
You will receive body acupuncture as well as facial acupuncture and so a facial treatment is, in effect, a two-in-one treatment. Unlike most conventional cosmetic treatments, facial revitalisation fully embraces the ‘inner beauty = outer beauty’ by working on your underlying health concerns and it is because of this it works so well and last a long time. As a result, you will not only begin to look younger, you will benefit from additional improvement in sleep, digestion, energy levels, menstrual symptoms, mood as well as an overall sense of well being. Following the acupuncture treatment, you will receive a mini facial, application of an appropriate skin oil/ cream and closing of your facial pores with a cooling jade roller. Dietary/ lifestyle/ skincare advice, if appropriate to you, will also be given.
A course of 10 weekly treatments is recommended to begin with and constitutes one course. Following the initial course of treatment, intermittent maintenance sessions (monthly/ 3 monthly/ 6 monthly) can prolong the results for several years and although results are cumulative and gradual, you can see changes after just two or three treatments. Once the initial course of treatment has been completed, you can also come in for top ups before that special event for the fresh faced holiday look.
Recent research has shown that out of 300 test subjects, over 90% showed significant improvements after one course of treatment.
Please call Dipika on 07748 056 206 or email acupuncture@dipikawishart.co.uk to book in for a free 30 minute consultation to discuss how facial revitalisation can work for you.
GYNAECOLOGICAL CONDITIONS, FERTILITY AND PREGNANCY
Gynaecological
Use acupuncture to treat a wide variety of gynaecological conditions from the onset of your menses to the menopause:
- PMT, mood swings, anxiety, anger, depression
- Headache, migraines, backache, bloating, breast distension, night sweats, insomnia, water retention
- Mouth ulcers, skin eruptions
- Absence of periods (amenorrhoea), scanty bleeding (oligomenorrhoea), excessive menstrual bleeding (menorrhagia), painful periods (dysmenorrhoea), irregular periods
- Mid cycle bleeding
- Endometriosis
- Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (POS/ PCOS), ovarian cysts, fibroids
- Fatigue
- Cystitis, thrush
- Alternating constipation and diarrhoea
The menopause is a normal and important transition in a woman’s life marking the cessation of ovulation. In the East, the menopause is seen as true change in life from mother to an enlightened and wise being. However, as modern life takes a toll on our bodies, more and more women experience difficulties during this transitional period, with symptoms lasting from a few months to several years and ranging from mild to severe. With the right diet and attitude women can look forward to a resurgence of energy and opportunity for personal growth and acupuncture can be used to assist you through this smoothly, quickly and with minimal discomfort.
- Hot flushes
- Memory loss
- Joint pain
- Headaches and migraines
- Irritability
- Night sweats
- Insomnia
- Vaginal dryness
- Depression
Fertility
Gentlemen, you can use acupuncture to:
- Invigorate your sperm quality – morphology (shape and structure) and motility (how they move)
- Increase the number of sperm
- Help with erectile dysfunction
- Improve prostate health
- Reduce your stress levels and support changes in lifestyle to aid conception
Ladies, you can use acupuncture to:
- Fertility – ‘unexplained infertility’, physical and emotional support with assisted conception (IVF, IUI, ICSI etc), secondary infertility (when you have difficulty conceiving again after a successful first pregnancy)
- Common conditions which may affect fertility – PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome), uterine polyps or fibroids, endometriosis
Pregnancy
You can safely use acupuncture to treat the discomforts that you experience during pregnancy and best of all, it is also safe for your unborn child. Use acupuncture to help you with any of the following conditions:
- Nausea and vomiting
- Heartburn, indigestion
- Poor appetite
- Food cravings and funny tastes
- Thirst
- Digestive disorders
- Constipation
- Tiredness, fatigue, exhaustion
- Dizziness, fainting
- Mood swings, depression
- Itching
- Aches and pains (including backache, sciatica, pelvic girdle/ pubic pain)
- Low or high blood pressure
- Sinusitis
- Varicose veins
- Anaemia
- Insomnia
- Oedema (swelling, water retention)
- Thrush, abnormal vaginal discharge
- Headache and migraine
Your body changes so much during pregnancy and whilst your body adapts to accommodate your growing child you may find that you experience a range of symptoms throughout your pregnancy, some of which may be quite uncomfortable for you. There are no set rules as to how you may be affected and you will experience your pregnancy differently to your friends. The best advice is to take each day as it comes and know that you can use acupuncture to help you cope and improve your experience of your pregnancy.
Breech and posterior presentations
This is where your baby is positioned head up instead of head down (breech) or your baby is head down but facing your tummy (occiput posterior) instead of your back (occiput anterior – ideal position). Treatment for this involves the application of heat using a moxa stick (a herb compacted into a cigar shaped stick) over an acupuncture point. You will then be shown how to administer moxa treatment yourself (or be able to instruct your partner) at home on a daily basis for up to 10 days. Treatment increases foetal activity and some studies in China have shown it to be up to 90% effective in turning a baby from breech to cephalic presentation.
Preparing for labour
Your body makes the transition out of the third trimester into the pre-labour phase from week 36. In these last few weeks it is very important that you rest in order to build a reserve of energy to help sustain your labour. Use acupuncture weekly from week 36 or 37 for up to four weeks to:
- Ripen the cervix
- To enhance optimal foetal position for labour
- To help build your energy reserves and stamina to enter into labour
- Improve your rate of post-partum recovery
- Moxa treatment is also helpful prior to an External Cephalic Version (ECV) and has been shown to help increase the chances of the baby turning.
Induction
A safe and effective treatment from when you are overdue to encourage the onset of labour. The treatment stimulates your uterus, stimulates contractions, and encourages your cervix to dilate and your baby to move downward in the birth canal. Treatments have an accumulative effective so the more treatments you have the more effective they become, but you can also have only one.
TREATMENT
Contrary to common belief, treatment is almost painless (the needles are very very fine), is suitable for all ages (including young babies) and most people come away feeling relaxed and energised.
If there is a fear of needles, acupressure can be used instead. In addition, depending on what is appropriate for you, treatments may include cupping, massage, moxibustion, auricular acupuncture, electro acupuncture, dietary and lifestyle advice.
