I underwent my training in this ancient massage technique – called Chavutti Thirumal – not far from where it originated in Kerala, South India. The massage lasts nearly two hours, when the front, back and sides of the body are massaged by the feet of the therapist using a rope for balance. The masseuer moves in a rhythmic, dance-like movement, adjusting her weight with precision to work deep into the muscles as well as activating the energy points (marmas) and channels (nadis) throughout the body.
The massage is excellent for yogis, athletes and other active bodies, but can also be adjusted for a gentle massage if preferred. It can work to realign physical structure, remove joint and muscular pain, tone organs, detoxify body tissues and help free up the body's energy (prana) throughout the entire body.
A massage like no other!
