About Private Pilates

In the relaxing atmosphere of the Pilates studio, you will be guided through specific exercises to suit your needs.  Our experienced teachers will design a programme suited to you.  Whether you have back or joint problems,  want to start a programme for your pregnancy,  regain your strength from giving birth, improve your posture, or simply to understand your body on a deeper level, the pilates studio may be the place to cater your needs.  A perfect compliment to yoga and tai chi, pilates exercises help to strengthen the deeper stability muscles used for posture, at the same time as lengthening the outer, more bulky muscles to give a leaner, more toned physique.  When we are sitting or standing  in the same position for long periods of time, the weight of the body tends to compress the spine, causing us to feel achy in the back, and sometimes the neck, as the neck and shoulders compensate for that weight.  Pilates exercises enables us to gradually let go of that tension, and ease our body into a place of neutral balance, and inner strength.

About Private Gyrotonic

Developed by Hungarian born Juliu Horvath, the GYROTONIC methodology is a unique system based on movements from yoga, Qi-Gong, swimming and ballet.  The continuous flow of exercises working in harmony with the breath, help to release tension and tight joints in the body,  creating a feeling of freeness, clarity, and balance in the body and mind.  The spiralling motions of the spine, which are incorporated throughout the whole body, help to release blocked energy pathways, leaving a feeling of renewed energy, and a deeper inner strength.

GYROTONIC exercises are especially beneficial for back or joint problems, whereby the support of the gyrotonic tower holds the weight of the body, which in turn, allows the user to let go of tension, and work the muscles at a deeper level.  These internal stabilizing muscles are the muscles needed to support the spine, and posture in general.  They are muscles we are not usually aware of, as with the stress of our day to day living, the external protective muscles tend to take over in order to cope with the conditions present.  GYROTONIC  helps us to become more aware of our body, and it’s habits, and how we can start to trust and sense a deeper strength within us, physically and emotionally.  This in turn, helps us to understand ourselves at a deeper level and the environment we live in.

Benefits of Gyrotonic:

  • IMPROVES POSTURE
  • HELPS WITH BACK AND JOINT INJURIES
  • HELPS WITH FLEXIBILITY
  • POST/ANTE NATAL BENEFITS
  • IMPROVES NERVOUS SYSTEM
  • IMPROVES DIGESTIVE SYSTEM
  • BALANCES ENERGY LEVELS
  • BALANCES BODY AND MIND
