About me

It was my personal journey to aid balance and health in my own life, that first introduced me to Reiki 11 years ago. This opened my sensitivity and urged me to explore the importance of integrating mind, body and emotions.

There is a sea of information about our amazing bodies and the fascinating ways we can heal them and Craniosacral Therapy has been my focus; it is subtle and gentle, unbounded by limits, yet profoundly simple and logical.

Since completing my training in 2000, I have continued to explore the field of Craniosacral Therapy through ongoing post graduate study with a special interest in pregnancy, mothers and babies. I am able to offer my services as a Doula giving support to the mother from conception through to post natal care.

Have a look on our My Baby & Me page to find out more about our special packages for women before, during and after pregnancy.

My approach

By honouring the process of life, I am a facilitator with my clients, working on all aspects of the physical body to bring about self-healing and transformation.

As a health practitioner it is my belief that the body knows best and when orienting it to a state of health, we have the innate ability to heal ourselves.

WHY SHOULD I CHOOSE CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY ?

Health is something active and not just an absence of disease. Craniosacral Therapy supports health in the body. It helps increase physical vitality and well-being, not only effecting structural changes but also having much wider emotional and spiritual implications influencing many aspects of life.

WHAT IS CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY ?

Craniosacral therapy is a safe and gentle hands-on therapy using light touch to effect a deep healing within the body via the craniosacral system. It works to enhance health by integrating body, mind and emotions optimising the body’s own natural healing potential.

It developed from the work of American Osteopath, Dr William Sutherland in the early 1900’s. Through clinical observation, Dr. Sutherland discovered that the bones, membrane and fluids of the Craniosacral system follow their own distinct rhythmic pattern of movement. These movements, which persist throughout life, are distinct from the motions of breathing and cardiovascular activity. Motion is fundamentally an expression of life and further observation showed these movements to be inextricably linked to our mental and emotional health.

HOW DOES CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY WORK ?

Restrictions in the body’s functioning show up in the way that this motion is expressed. Physical knocks and emotional stress can disrupt these natural rhythms and lead to problems of ill health by restricting fluid and energetic flow. Unresolved physical and emotional stress build up over time and manifest as aches and pains such as headaches and backaches possibly leading to insomnia, depression and to other more chronic illnesses.

A Craniosacral therapist will listen with their hands and sense the quality and vitality of the Vital Force within the fluids. In determining and sensing this quality and its restrictions, the therapist will encourage the systems own potent healing forces to come into play, allowing a space in which the body’s able to rebalance, restore health and return to an easier mode of function.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT IN A TREATMENT SESSION ?

After taking a full case history you will be treated fully clothed and usually lying down.

You may feel a deep sense of relaxation and a warm sense of support as the therapist gently makes a light contact with their hands beginning with the feet, sacrum or head before moving to an area that is of primary importance during the healing session. You may feel heat, tingling sensations, gentle pulsing of energy moving through your body, a feeling of increased gravity or a profound sense of meditation.

The process is completely client led and the releases occur at a deep unconscious level within the body. Each session is an individual process and because the body is in charge the benefits are often profound and permanent, getting to the root of the problem. Very often more than one or two treatments will be necessary to achieve this. Each session is unique and brings its own insights and rewards. Sometimes the benefits are not immediately noticeable but become obvious on returning to a familiar environment.

IS CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY SUITABLE FOR ME ?

Because Craniosacral therapy is gentle and non invasive, it is suitable for everyone, particularly in pregnancy, in fragile or acutely painful conditions, after an accident, injury or operation or when other therapies may be inappropriate. Babies and children especially enjoy and respond well to treatment.
