Nutrition in Pregnancy and Breast Feeding
Eating the right diet and having the highest possible levels of available nutrients is the single most important gift that a woman can give to her baby. Before conception, during pregnancy and throughout breast feeding high levels of nutrients are important to ensure that your baby develops properly. On the Light Centre’s Healthy Eating Course you will learn everything you need to know about this subject.

Acupuncture and Chinese Massage - before, during and after Pregnancy
Acupuncture can enhance the experience of conception as well as pregnancy for both mother and child. Treatments can boost energy levels, encourage the immune system, aid restful and refreshing sleep whilst stimulating the metabolism for better nourishment to the placenta.
Acupuncture is wonderful for aiding and soothing a transition through the birth process and helping to return the mothers body back to balance and harmony after the birth. This sensitive style of Acupuncture is deeply relaxing helping you to have a heart felt connection with yourself, as well as the baby.

Thai Massage for Pregnancy during and after Pregnancy
is a unique and powerful massage therapy which combines Acupressure, Energy Balancing, Muscle Stretching and applied Yoga exercises. It is practised slowly with no oil, on a floor-mat and through loose-fitting clothing. It can be experienced safely throughout pregnancy (after the first three months).

Pregnancy treatment:Mostly applied in a comfortable and propped-up side-lying position, the treatment starts at the feet and works its way up the body, finishing at the head - possibly in a sitting position at the end, should the mother be comfortable.Combining rhythmic light acupressure and gentle stretches on the body’s energy lines, this treatment is very effective at relieving the back pain associated with the extra weight (from the lower back including the thoracic and upper back areas). Thai Massage might be beneficial for the pregnant mother in the way as it can improve the blood circulation, especially in her feet and ankles which are often swollen.Your baby will share the stimulation by the energy flow and might be responsive to it. It is a great treat which will leave the expecting mother in a much deserved relaxed, yet energised, state.

Post-birth:It is important is to continue self-nurturing once the baby is born because parenthood is very demanding on different levels. After all, it makes sense to nurture oneself in order to nurture someone else. Thai Massage will help restore the balance and harmony between the skeletal, muscular, neurological and energetic systems. It will assist the release of the blocked energy in the body and its organs due to the various stresses of the pregnancy and labour, whilst emotionally balancing the subtle energies of the body-mind.

Craniosacral Therapy to ease the Birth Process
Kirsten and Doug use the safe and gentle techniques of Cranial Touch to help your body adjust to changes throughout pregnancy and to prepare your body for labour.
Difficulties and discomfort of the pelvis, spine, uterus and organs can be relieved, the immune system enhanced and fatigue, fluid retention and high blood pressure addressed. Helping to rebalance and relax the mothers pelvis can greatly ease the birth process reducing the stress for the baby during this time. Gentle releases can aid the recovery from the rigors of birth and help the pelvis and sacrum to return to normal, re-balancing the nervous system and easing signs of fatigue and post natal depression. Many conditions that occur later in life or during early years of development have been found by craniosacral therapists to be linked to unresolved birth trauma. Early treatment for babies can their sensitive young bodies to heal naturally avoiding symptoms of colic, fussiness, allergies, feeding and sleeping problems allowing your baby to reach its full potential.

Homeopathy for Labour
Homeopathic remedies are a safe and natural way to gently boost the energy levels of the body and can be very helpful to help you cope better with your labour.
The homeopathic childbirth kit contains remedies for difficulties that can arise during labour such as slow cervical dilation, irregular contractions, exhaustion, nausea, pain, shock and anxiety.
The remedies can be used in hospital or at home alongside any medical procedures or on their own. They are invaluable after delivery to speed up healing and to help your body recover fully.
In a birth preparation session with your partner you can learn how to use the remedies during labour. The kit is then loaned to you with a detailed leaflet of instructions.
