Mindful self-compassion (MSC) involves learning to treat ourselves kindly, rather than continually judging and evaluating ourselves. Through discussion and experimental practices, you will learn powerful, yet simple research-based tools to help you to bring self-compassion into your daily life, such as:

  • how to stop being so hard on yourself;
  • how to handle difficult emotions with greater ease;
  • how to look after yourself effectively amidst the stresses and difficulties of life;
  • and how to motivate yourself to make changes or progress in life, not because (of the belief) we are worthless or inadequate, but out of beginning to genuinely care about your own well-being at a deeper level.

An additional practice will also be introduced to help ease stress for those who have to give a lot of themselves to others, such as parents, grandparents, teachers, friends, those with elderly parents, managers, carers, mentors and therapists. No experience of mindfulness or meditation necessary.
