I started my training early on as a dancer. During my training and continuing into my professional career, I became really interested in getting fitter for my dancing. I soon realised it wasn’t just dancers that needed to move but the majority of the population as well. I started as a fitness trainer and then pursued my interest further. I trained as a personal trainer and sports massage therapist as well as becoming a Pilates instructor with the established PILATESfoundation. I have continued my development through seminars, additional training courses as well as working with dancers and in the field to develop my expertise.
I really enjoy working with the general population as well a specialising in sports/dance therapy. I have seen changes in all of the clients I have worked with. Whether it just be standing taller or reducing the impact of an injury I have seen that Pilates really can benefit anyone, regardless of their level of fitness or occupation.
My class offers a variety of exercises to develop strength, flexibility and muscle tone, as well as providing a chance to relax. I pride myself on being able to deliver excellent attention to detail throughout class. Using a hands on approach I am able to make sure that everyone gets some individual attention throughout class. If class is not enough, or for the Pre/Post natal client, I am able to offer 1:1 session in Pilates and/or sports massage therapy.
As a dancer I have over 20 years of movement experience. I have used this throughout my classes to connect the mind to the body and improve bodily awareness to prevent injuries. Having trained in a number of fitness disciplines I am able to combine a class that suits everyone as well as assessing what is important to individuals. Incorporating fitness, therapy and movement in a class, I am able to deliver a functional class that will leave participants feeling relaxed but yet invigorated!
