Marvin Blake is a Clinical Sports Massage Therapist who also qualified as an Osteopath from The British School of Osteopathy in London and is registered with the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC).
The Jamaican native has an extensive clinical background, having worked in the NHS as a Nursing Assistant since 2012, predominantly in Accident & Emergency. He has devoted tremendous effort in ensuring practical and tailored procedures are taken in assessing, educating and managing each client. This is in conjunction with practising Sports Massage since being qualified in 2014.
Marvin employs a diverse approach to treatment, utilising structural, soft tissue and fascial mobilisation techniques such as MFR (Myofascial Release), MET (Muscle Energy Techniques) and IASTM (Instrument-Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilisation). He also incorporates treatment modalities such as Kinesiotaping and movement based therapy, along with dynamic and static stretching and exercise prescription, all of which are subject to the client’s case.
An avid sportsman himself, Marvin has had the opportunity of working with a large number of semi-professional and amateur rugby players, cyclists, athletes, marathon runners, triathletes, dancers and footballers. However, this does not deduct from the fact that he is very familiar with daily life and gym-based injuries, particularly those faced by corporate professionals in the workplace.
Alongside his philosophy of ‘prevention being better than cure’, he believes an integrative approach that considers a client’s emotional and mental wellbeing will lead to a healthier outcome and greater overall performance.
