Marvin Blake (M.Ost) qualified from The British School of Osteopathy in London, and is a registered Osteopath with the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC).
The Jamaican native has an extensive clinical background, having worked in the NHS as a Nursing Assistant since 2012, predominantly in Accident & Emergency. Marvin has had first hand experience of how inappropriate mechanical injuries such as back pain can be managed, particularly within the NHS. Therefore, he has devoted tremendous effort in ensuring practical and tailored procedures are taken in assessing, diagnosing, educating and managing each client.
Marvin employs a diverse approach to treatment, utilising structural (joint mobilisation), functional and visceral (soft tissue and fascial mobilisation) osteopathic techniques, as well as incorporating treatment modalities such as Medical Acupuncture (Dry Needling), Kinesiotaping and movement based therapy, all of which is subject to the client’s case.
An avid sportsman himself, Marvin has had the opportunity of working with a large number of semi-professional and amateur rugby players, cyclists, runners and footballers. However, this does not deduct from the fact that he is very familiar with daily life and gym-based injuries, particularly those faced by corporate professionals in the workplace.
Alongside his philosophy of ‘prevention being better than cure’, he believes an integrative approach that considers a client’s emotional and mental wellbeing will lead to a greater and healthier outcome from treatment. Therefore, he is an excellent communicator who uses mindful principles and empathy at the forefront of his patient management.
