Following a lower back injury 15 years ago I started attending yoga classes, I have not looked back since. Yoga has given me a complete sense and awareness of who I am, and allows me to go within to find that inner peace and calmness.
Over the years I became more involved in the concept of Yoga, going on various overseas retreats and attending several courses and workshops.
I trained through the Yoga Academy with Simon Low, which is recognised by the Yoga Alliance and the British Wheel of Yoga. Since then I have been enjoying teaching. The style in which I teach is a Vinyasa Hatha Yoga. A flow of movements from one asana to the next linked to the rhythm of breath.
My classes focus on a moving meditation with some dynamic postures, allowing the body to feel energised yet relaxed, the mind alert while still, and with awareness on the breath to be calm yet fluid. Allowing body, mind and breath to become one, through the practice of pranayama, asana and relaxation.
My interpretation of yoga is mainly derived from Swami Sivananda, TKV Desicachar, BKS Iyengar and Vanda Scaravelli.
My daytime profession is in hairdressing, which I have been doing since I left school in 1984. Yoga has helped my lower back and also alleviates any physical stress hairdressing can put on my body.
