My style consists of Anusara-inspired Yoga with a background in Sivanada, Astanga and Iyengar Yoga.
I have practiced yoga for over 10 years. I decided to train as a yoga teacher after a skiing accident & knee surgery: yoga was an important part of my recovery process and it was then that I truly appreciated the far-reaching effects of yoga on the mind, body and spirit. I qualified and started teaching in 2006.
My practice is based on Anusara Yoga, a heart orientated practice strongly focused on the universal principles of alignment. Anusara means “Flowing with Grace” and was developed by John Friend in the 1990’s in the US.
When I teach I draw inspiration from a number of teachers and yoga disciplines, in addition to Anusara: the gentle relaxation-based approach of Sivananda, the focus of alignment of BKS Ivengar and the dynamic practice of Astanga Vinyasa Yoga. I use an interdisciplinary approach, which enables me to work effectively with students of varying needs and backgrounds.
