Maxine has long been interested in the idea that there is more to life than meets the physical eye.
After a hedonistic time at university followed by a move to London that resulted in lots of late nights, parties and all that comes with it she began to feel drawn to a more holistic way of living.
She serendipitously began to find herself in situations where she was surrounded by holistic healers, yogis and all around general enablers of this lifestyle. Her interest was deepened and she began practising meditation and mindfulness, all the while reading, talking and generally living the practises she was beginning to understand.
Yoga was actually one of the last additions to her spiritual practise but it was, without a doubt the defining one. Being drawn to meditation that focuses on the breath, the Ashtanga asana practise seemed the most appropriate choice and she remains loyal to that. The beautifully calming yet uplifting experience that comes from allowing the breath to lead physical movement is one that changed not only her physical life but also her mental and spiritual ones.
Maxine’s classes are based within the Ashtanga tradition, with a strong focus on breath and intention. She believes that learning to accept where you are both on and off the mat is the key to a more content life and emphasis will be placed on acceptance throughout. Expect strong, playful sequences put together with compassion and a deep desire to heal, both herself and others.
